Are you tempted yet?
We stumbled upon this French bakery on our way home from a family trip.
Back then, I noticed the bakery, but drove by as we had a long day at the beach (an excuse my husband used, he just couldn’t be bothered to look for a parking spot).
Couple of days later, I woke up in the morning, and had to go visit that bakery. I have already done my research. I wanted to go there, not because it was a French bakery, I just had to go and taste that traditional croissant the the reviewer has been talking about. And if they are French, that meant they had the sweet delectable desserts that I am craving for. Not that it was that day of the month, nor the stress I was getting with the assignments due, nor was it the stress of everyday life of being a a full time mum, or the argument that we had the night before, over a little thing on putting socks on the floor in every corner of the house.
No, it was just that hunch feeling I got, it would be a marvellous place to go and eat all that savouries and pastries, only a French baker can make.
I had to go
My mind was set.
I got up super early
packed our child’s lunch box for school
put on my lipstick
got dressed
dragged my old child, I mean husband out of bed
got my 5 year old in the car
dropped her off at school
and off we went.
When we arrived, I was abit nervous.
What if all that hype and excitement that I built up, all that imagination that I have made in my stomach, is not met..??
I hesitated. Pondered in my head with numerous escape plans if it turned out to be not what I have imagined it to be, all that seduction of pastries and savouries I have described to my husband about.. what if....
That all changed, when I stepped right into that door, I was greeted by staff members talking amongst each other in French, laughing, baking and chit chatting away, I was greeted a man with dreamy eyes, his French accent, making me think I have travelled to France.
“Madam, what would you like?”
I had to think, I had to convince my husband that we have come to the right place, he wont be disappointed. Before I could say anything, my husband cut in,
“We'll have a large latte for me and a regular cappuccino for her, takeaway”
and that was it!!
NO!!! I didn’t drag him all the way here just for a coffee!!! I sat him down outside, got him to take a sip of his coffee and as soon as he did, his expression changed. His eyes wide open with a slight smirk on his face,
“This is a good blend. Just what we like”
This was my signal, I had to take this moment before it disappears, I ran back into the bakery “Could I get the top 3 best selling please?” before I could finish, my husband cut in,
“Could we also get macarons, you can choose 6 for us”
Whilst all that was happening, my eyes were busy looking at the cosy bakery, the displays, the coffee beans, the machines, the clean open kitchen and the staff, laughing and baking something in the kitchen speaking in French, oh how dreamy. Only if I could speak French...
I sat down with a beautiful plate of desserts in front of me. I wanted to taste them straight away, but was resisted from my husband.
”Photos first”

As I waited impatiently in front of the delights, I couldn’t help my salivating mouth, drooling down my lips.. I had to take a sip of coffee to calm me down. I had to resist my self, this is for the world to see, we need to share this to the people of Sydney, let alone local people living nearby, what they are missing out on. The visuals of the cakes, was perfect.
As I moved the precious cargo, one by one to put it on display for photos, a touch of cream got on my hands, and without hesitation, my instincts kicked in, my tongue reached for my hand and without thinking, licked it and swallowed the small tiny cream.
OH My!!!!
I couldn’t wait any longer. I had to take a bite before my stomach goes into chaos mode.
That first bite I took, the rasberry macaron. It was like the time has stopped and put me into a place where no one could pester me, the crunch on the outside, light, soft with a touch of chewiness on the inside, instantly melting and disappearing. It had the right amount of flavours and sweetness that I wanted. Oh and the sweets!! The almond Paris-bret, the berry tart, the chocolate éclair, the croissant and the sourdough baguette!! It was like I was in my own world of 'Ratatouille'
Could I take the patisserie home? Can I recreate this? no, I don't have access to the suppliers he has. All the ingredients are from France. How on earth am I able to do resist this delight? It will be on my mind, lingering away at the back of my head, macaron~~ Paris-bret~~~ éclair~~~...
and then it hit me!
Just make an excuse, any excuse and go there!!

We tried the sweets, now will be returning for the savouries.
Not too overly sweet, just the right amount of sweetness and saltiness. You can scoff down a huge amount of sweets and don't feel bad. The bad thing about it is, your waistline.
Slightly heavy on the wallet but worth it.
Lots of varieties to choose from, couldn't control myself.
They speak French, and it is dreamy!!
Very cosy, has a few seats for people to sit and enjoy.

We classify with our lips;
1 lip = If you are local, and have nothing to do, you go there and try.
2 lips = If you are visiting you friends, family, for business or you are in the area, go and check it out.
3 lips = It's worth the drive, just go there. It won't be a waste of time.
4 lips = Just go! trust me, and go! It is a MUST!!
